The Mountain Village Housing Department, in coordination with the Mountain Village Housing Authority (MVHA), is responsible for managing existing deed-restricted housing, maintaining Town-owned rental assets, and developing new affordable housing to address the region’s growing workforce housing shortage. Current efforts are increasingly focused on advancing a major new housing opportunity in Ilium Valley, which represents the Town’s most viable long-term development site. Regional Housing Needs Assessment from 2025 estimates ~1,100 workforce units are needed across San Miguel County; Mountain Village wants to contribute meaningful supply while keeping projects financially feasible and quickly deliverable.
